Morktober 2025 – Beetle

Item – A wooden box of beetles, dry shells rattling. Mash them up, boil them up, serve them in a mug.

The massive Dark Coast Beetle native to the DARK YUCATAN is much bigger than their European cousins, causing painful but non toxic welts when it bites. Properly harvested, they can serve as ingredients for many a potent potion.

• A strong dye for blackening that white sail cloth, weather resistant. Smaller portions can be used to colour individual clothes for those stealth forays or just looking extra cunning.
• Grind them up in a powerful alcohol and another random ingredient from the potion chart to steel yourself against the TERROR and see things beyond your normal. But what horrors should you learn if you gain a taste for this strange brew?
• A full grown Dark Coast Beetle barely fits in your palm but that’s enough for a quick snack. Eat enough of them and you might just make it through the night. Their nutty taste is better when roasted, but still edible when raw but expect your teeth and lips to be blackened after eating more than a few.
