It’s a haunted space, hooking itself into the unfortunate witnesses. From the floor, it crawls onto their skin, starting as a small discoloration and then spreads, growing larger and darker until it either consumes the victim or the victim finds those responsible for the original STAIN.
Mechanically, DR 12 PRESENCE test to initially resist the STAIN, then visions of the MURDER begin to replay in the infected character’s dreams and eventually their waking life. Physically, the STAIN will grow more difficult to conceal with time and growth, devouring the flesh until all that remains is another STAIN. Only with the punishment delivered unto the GUILTY will the flesh be cleaned …
As I read this over, I can’t help but think that somewhere I’m drawing upon The Tell-Tale Heart with this. Guilt growing into madness, madness tearing away at the reality.
